Maya Mountain Research Farm

About

Maya Mountain Research Farm was founded in 1988. It is a decades old award winning permaculture project located in southern Belize. We are located up river from the village of San Pedro Columbia, Toledo in the foothills of the Maya Mountains southern flank. Our primary focus is on multistratra-agroforestry systems as a tool for food security, climate change mitigation and adaption and degraded land repair. We manage many species of plants, with an emphasis on tropical staple trees, and raise some sheep, poultry, rabbits and bees. We also work in renewable with battery based photovoltaic systems in schools, clinics and ranger stations, as well as community level water pumping systems.
